What we do
What comes out of the studio.
Tiles and surfaces
Handmade tiles for a splashback, a hearth or a whole wall, in a glaze agreed before the first one is cut.
Classes and workshops
Evening and weekend sessions on six wheels. Beginners leave with a set of bowls; regulars work on their own projects.
The studio
Thrown, trimmed and glazed in one place.
Everything that leaves here has been through our own hands and our own kilns.
The studio began with one second-hand wheel and a kiln in a converted shed. It has grown to two kilns and six wheels, and the work is still made in batches small enough to check every piece before it is packed.
Stoneware, not earthenware
Fired to 1260°C so the body vitrifies. It is heavier than a shop-bought mug and it will not craze with hot water.
Glazes mixed here
Recipes are mixed in the studio and tested on tiles first, so the colour you approve is the colour you receive.

A few practical notes about the studio, commissions and classes.
Opening times
Thursday to Saturday
The studio is open from midday to five on those afternoons, and at other times by appointment.
Commissions
Six to eight weeks
A full dinner service takes longer than a set of tiles. The date is agreed before any work starts.
Collecting work
From the studio
Pieces are held until they are collected, or delivered within thirty miles of Cowbridge.

How a commission works.
Visit the studio
Open on Thursday to Saturday afternoons, or by appointment. Handle the glazes and the samples before deciding anything.
Agree the making
For a commission we agree size, glaze, finish and date in writing, and take half the cost up front.
Collect or send
Small pieces are boxed for collection. Larger work is delivered within thirty miles, or crated for a courier.

Can the pieces go in a dishwasher?
Yes. Everything sold as tableware is fired to stoneware temperature and is dishwasher and microwave safe. The glazes contain no lead.
Can I book a class for a group?
Yes. Private sessions for up to six people can be arranged on a weekday evening, with clay, tools and firing included.
Do you repair or replace a broken piece?
Send a photograph and we will say whether it can be repaired or remade. Remakes of an existing glaze are charged as a single piece.
